Billionaire Lukas Walton has promoted Noelle Laing to chief investment officer of his Chicago-based family office, Builders Vision. Laing previously oversaw the firm’s $1.7 billion philanthropic endowment and played a key role in aligning its investments with social and environmental goals.

Builders Vision focuses on tackling global challenges across clean energy, sustainable food systems, and ocean health through a mix of philanthropy and impact investing. Since joining the organization in 2019, Laing has led the Builders Initiative, transitioning 90% of its endowment to mission-driven strategies and directing over $300 million into early-stage ventures and fund managers.

In her expanded role, Laing will manage investments across the family office, including oversight of several family trusts and Builders Asset Management, which handles a multibillion-dollar taxable portfolio. She is also integrating the office’s investment teams into one unified group of nearly 30 professionals.

Lukas Walton praised Laing’s leadership, saying her guidance would help strengthen alignment across all sectors of the family office’s work.

Builders Vision has recently supported efforts such as Norway’s sustainable seafood fund Bluefront Equity and a $70 million debt guarantee for the Bahamas to support marine conservation.

Laing is among a growing cohort of women leading investment efforts for ultra-wealthy families. Like peers at Pivotal Ventures and S-Cubed Capital, she is an alumna of Cambridge Associates, a leading advisory firm to family offices and endowments.
