Owen Jenkins, HSBC’s global head of discretionary portfolio management, has left the bank to establish his own family office. Jenkins, who spent nearly 12 years at HSBC, served as global head of discretionary portfolio management within the private banking division for the past three years.
Interim Leadership in Place
Sai Tampi, HSBC’s global head of funds, ETFs, and manager selection, will take over Jenkins’ role on an interim basis. A Citywire Top 20 private banking selector, Tampi will continue to hold his current position while stepping into this new role.
A New Chapter for Jenkins
Jenkins’ LinkedIn profile now lists him as the Chief Investment Officer of an unnamed family office. His departure follows the exit of Annabel Spring, former CEO of HSBC’s global private banking and wealth division, at the end of last year.
HSBC Restructuring Continues
These leadership changes align with HSBC’s ongoing restructuring under group CEO Georges Elhedery, who revamped the bank’s operations by establishing an international wealth and premier banking division in October.
Jenkins’ Impressive Career Journey
A Cambridge-educated investment manager, Jenkins previously held roles at Deutsche Asset Management, Polar Capital, and Key Capital before spending over a decade at HSBC.
HSBC, which caters to clients with assets exceeding £1.5 million (R35.2 million), has not commented on Jenkins’ departure.
